Dedicated to empower the Hispanic community to actively engage in leadership development and community service.  HLC promotes education at all levels and is the proud sponsor of  the Hispanic Youth Leadership Council (HYLC), which has chapters  in most high schools in Stanislaus, Merced and San Joaquin counties.

HLC sponsors various events throughout the year including the Mariachi Festival, to raise funds for student scholarships and activities, including the annual HYLC picnic and the HYLC Camp in conjunction with Boy Scouts.  The primary mission of HLC is service to the community with a special focus on youth and the Hispanic community.

HLC is proud of the work it does in the areas of education, health, civic responsibilities while providing opportunities for members to assume leadership roles within the larger Modesto area community.

The Hispanic Youth Leadership Council (HYLC) is sponsored by the HLC and operates under its auspices as a school based student organization operating in 18 high schools in Stanislaus (15), San Joaquin (1), and Merced (2) County. HYLC provides high school age youth many opportunities to practice and learn leadership skills, to prepare for career and post-secondary education, to provide community service, and to explore ways to preserve and maintain their cultural and family heritage.  HLC was founded by Juan Alvarez in 1989 and is one of the most
